James Adams wins the EuroPro at Wychwood

James Adams carded a final round 67 to win the Motocaddy Masters by two shots on 10-under-par at Wychwood Park Golf. Adams (Druids Heath Golf Club) claimed his maiden HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour title on a day which saw the lead change hands on a number of occasions. Jordan Wrisdale (Boston) started the day as tournament leader at 9-under-par, but dropped off the pace to finish on 7-under-par. Jonathan Thomson (Rotherham) came closest to challenging Adams, finishing 8-under-par for the tournament, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Norton Canes golfer who carded five birdies and an eagle on the last day. “I feel pretty good, it’s a strange feeling, especially when I’ve had some tough weeks this season. I played three rounds this week that I can’t really remember and have ended up winning”: said Adams, who wins £10,000 as well as a brand new Motocaddy S5 CONNECT electric trolley as a special winning prize, Bushnell Pro X2 range finder and Bolle sunglasses.

A 67 round, the lowest score of the day, included an eagle on the first, which proved to be pivotal in clinching victory. Adams said: “I had a good start, my tee shot on the first into the wind which bounced down the fairway slope set me up nicely for an eagle.”

• His back nine didn’t start in a similar fashion, a bogey on the tenth proved to only be a minor setback, as he followed it with back-to-back birdies. This win thrusts Adams into ninth in the Race To Amendoeria in only his third event this season. He said: “I will be playing on the EuroPro Tour for the rest of the year now, it’s a big jump up on this tour and coming first makes a big difference. I’m looking forward to next week to play some great golf again.”

Summer Camp for the Kids

Wychwood Park will be hosting a summer camp for the kids as we introduce them to golf and the new amazing craze which is footgolf. This will be happening on Wednesday, 30 August so please enquire by calling 01270 820955 or click here to send us an email. This will be a great chance to get your children into a sport that could lead into a career as well as enjoying a fun filled day which gets kids learning the rules of golf to playing against each other in tournaments. For £30 per junior Wychwood Park wants to inspire young children to take up a sport which will teach them sportsmanship and great etiquette. The hours will take place from 9:00am till 3:00pm so please call to book a place with us.

Junior Coaching Sessions

Last week we saw some new faces at the Junior Coaching Sessions. Although a lot of people are away these sessions will continue to run every Saturday so be sure to contact Ella if you are here and bring the kids along.

We are excited to announce that we have now got a new local pale ale on draught at the Claret Jug. This locally sourced ale is made by Tatton Brewery, home of Cheshire’s real ale. Upcoming Events

We have a number of fantastic events coming up at the club, including:

• Friday, 18 August - Mixed Pairs Open.
• Saturday, 19 August - August Open Pairs - Two day event, £10 per player for members and for guests £20 per player. This will include bacon bap and a coffee as well as presentation at the end.
  
• Sunday, 20 August - August Open Pairs (Day Two). This can be played as one day event as there will be prizes for each day and prizes for combined.
