1. Assess the nature of the lie within the divot. For example, if the ball is lying towards the back edge of the divot then the main priority is just to get it out. However, if the ball is towards the front edge, you have more options.
2. The Secret to making good contact here is to hit down on the ball. To do this, your ball position should be an inch or two back in the stance and your weight should be 60-40 on the front foot. This will promote a steeper backswing, which, in turn will influence more of a downward blow to catch the ball first and drive the ball out. 3. For the swing. Do not try to change anything in your swing. Don’t be timid. Just think down and through. Extend out to the target and do not quit on it. There is no reason why it wont go on the green!
