James Houghton joins the professional team at Wychwood!
James turned pro in 2007 at Huyton and Prescot GC and began running junior classes at the club in September 2007 for local children and members as well as teaching in local primary schools. Over the past nine years he has taught in excess of 2,500 golfers of all standards of the game of golf. In 2011 he moved to develop the junior academy at Rainford Golf Centre starting from scratch to over 40 juniors in 13 months whilst teaching adult golfers. James also worked for the Lee Westwood Academy for two seasons in 2010 and 2011 coaching some of the North West's most talented youngsters at summer camps. During July 2012 at The Open at Royal Lytham James was part of the R&A Swing Zone project offering FREE coaching sessions to hundreds of golfers throughout the week. In August 2012 he moved to London to manage the academy at Sunbury Golf Centre an academy with over 75 juniors attending every week and around 30 local schools and built up a large clientele of good golfers young and old. In 2014 James joined Europe’s largest golf retailer American Golf beginning working as the in-store PGA Professional for the Liverpool branch, eventually moving to the company Head Office to join the Retail Operations team. This role involved planning and delivering demo days across 106 stores, teaching at national golf shows and retraining the company's 800 members of staff to custom fit golf products.
James joins Wychwood Park with the view of bringing his wide knowledge base of coaching, custom fitting and retailing to the facility. Given the ambition and drive of the team already in place we intend to make this the outstanding golf facility in the area offering quality coaching using the latest technology, industry leading custom fitting experiences and a wide choice of golf equipment from the pro shop all with the aim of helping you play better golf.

We have a FootJoy Shoe Fitting Day scheduled on Saturday, 23 April from 10am - 2pm. For those of you thinking of investing in a new pair of shoes before the season is upon us this is the perfect opportunity to get your feet measured by a member of the FootJoy team to ensure you get the best fit possible.
